Pembers Hill Drive Play Area

BRAND NEW PLAY AREA INSTALLED AT PEMBERS HILL DRIVE, FAIR OAK

An exciting new natural play facility has been installed at Pembers Hill Drive, Fair Oak. The project was managed by the Parish Council and funded through Section 106 monies.

The play area, installed by Vitaplay Ltd, was chosen by the Community following a community vote.

Despite the extreme weather conditions – flash flooding, heavy rain and extreme heat, the play area has been completed (bar a section of fence which will be installed shortly) and will be open as per the project deadline on Friday 23 July.

To celebrate the opening, the Clerk has donated a few treats for children which he has hidden around the park.

In addition to the installation of the play equipment and the play area fencing, Drew Smith have also installed a post and rail fence to the boundary of Mortimers Lane and Knowle Lane to provide extra safety measures for children, being so close to the main road.

The next phase of the project will see the installation of a ‘talking’ bench and a bug hotel on the public open space. This will take place in the next few weeks.

The Parish will also plant additional trees along the boundary of Mortimers Lane in the autumn/winter along with additional planting inside the play area in the form of a wicker archway and sensory flowers such as lavender. Wildflowers and bulbs will also be planted on the wider open space in the next few months.

The Parish Council would like to thank Pembers Hill Drive residents, Dave Bowen Consultancy Ltd, Eastleigh Borough Council and Drew Smith for their support in this project.
