Election of Parish Councillors - 5 May 2011

Michael Patrick ANDERSON - EAST WARD - ELECTED

I have lived in Horton Heath all my life (52 years), married (29 years) and attended the three local schools.  My four children have also attended the local schools.  I think I have a good idea what creates and what is required in a community like ours.  I also work in the village so I can comment on the commercial requirements as well.  I feel that now is the perfect time to give something back to our village.

Colin ATTERBURY - EAST WARD - ELECTED

Resident in Horton Heath

Lorna ATTERBURY - EAST WARD - ELECTED

Resident in Horton Heath

Peter Martin Patrick BARRETT - EAST WARD - ELECTED

I am a  resident in Horton Heath and have served four years on the Parish Council.  I was a member of the Finance and Staffing Committee and the Knowle Park Committee.

Wendy BORRILL - EAST WARD - NOT ELECTED

I have lived in Fair Oak for 24 years and currently serve on the Board of Trustees of the village hall as secretary and vice-chair of the village hall.  Except when I have something heave to carry or collect, I walk everywhere within the parish and am now familiar with the territory.  Our parish covers a lot of ground, sprawling into the countryside as well as having an urban feel in parts.  Both villages have grown, though not always in a good way.  If we want to continue improving our environment we need to involve residents in the continuing development of our parish.  I previously worked as a social worker and then as a university lecturer and this has enabled me to develop skills which can be of value in working with the community.

Andrew Lewis COSSEY - WEST WARD - ELECTED

I have lived in Fair Oak for 24 years.  I joined the Parish Concil in 1993 and have chaired the Planning Committee.  I am an avid supporter of community events and have been a member of the organising committee.  I take part in the Carnival and other village events.  I took an active role in negotiating the appointment of PSCO's in the area.  I am also a trustee of the Bishopstoke Charity.  In my spare time I enjoy walking, reading music and visting local hostelries!

Helen Jane Anne DOUGLAS - EAST WARD - ELECTED

I have been a Parish Councillor for 22 years.  I am the current Chair of the Council.  I also chair the Management Committee of Horton Heath Community Centre.  I have lived in Fair Oak for 30 years and have 4 children and work as a teacher.  I am extremely interested in local community activities and have worked hard to improve our community by supporting many events and projects.

Mick FITZGERALD - EAST WARD - NOT ELECTED

I am 53 years of age and have lived in the village for the past 16 years.  I worked for 27 years in the IT industry and am currently working in the automotive industry.  I have decided to put myself forward for the Parish Council as feel I could contribute to improving our environment.  I hear people complain about usage of monies and decisions which are made but they don't attempt to do anything about it, so I have decided to try and make a difference.

John GOSS - EAST WARD - ELECTED

I have lived in Fair Oak for nearly 40 years and have served as a Parish Councillor for 11 years, serving on various committees.  For the last 5 years I have been on the Knowle Park Committee.  I have enjoyed being part of the team who created this valuable leisure space.  I am retired now but still find plenty to do.  I am a member of several local history groups.  I play badminton every week and I also enjoy walking especially on the Friday morning health walk around our village.  Last year, I completed the 26 miles of the Clarendon Way from Winchester to Salisbury raising nearly £500 for Naomi house.  My ambition is to improve the quality of life for those of us that live in Fair Oak and Horton Heath.

Deborah Jane LUSMORE - EAST WARD - ELECTED

I am a lifelong resident of Fair Oak and live in Winchester Road.  A working Mum with strong links to young people's organisations in the villages.  I have been a Parish Councillor for 11 years.

Martin Edward LYON - WEST WARD - NOT ELECTED

I'm a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and married to Sarah who is a nurse; we have four children, the youngest three attend senior school in Fair Oak; the eldest is at Peter Symonds.  The two middle boys play for Eastleigh RUFC and one of them has been an active member of Eastleigh Youth Theatre for over 5 years.  We are local residents; our family has lived in Fair Oak for nine years, although I used to work in Fair Oak as far back as 1990.  Since then I've worked for Hampshire County Council, was self employed for 5 years and now work full time for Emcor in Eastleigh.  Previously, I have stood in the borough local elections and last year represented New Forest West in the General Elections as ppc, holding my deposit.  I have been very interested in local and national politics for some years now.  After studying History for a degree before becoming a surveyor, and then reading Law some years later, it became apparent that what happens nationally really does impact on our local communities.  Both Sarah and I are interested in educational issues and in 1999 we helped set up a primary school in Winchester.

Hugh MCCGUINNESS - EAST WARD - ELECTED

I have been a member of the Parish Council for 4 years, and served on four committees. I have a 95% attendance record, and have helped with the Fair Oak Carnival.  I was part of the team, which developed Knowle Park, of which we are all proud.  I also represent the Council on the Village Hall Management Trust.

Trevor MIGNOT - WEST WARD - ELECTED

Trevor has lived in Bishopstoke all is life; first with his family in Harvey Road and  now along Olympic Way.  He has been on Eastleigh Borough Council since 1988, representing Fair Oak West since 2002.  He has been on Fair Oak Parish Council since 2007.  Trevor works for Tesco, Eastleigh at the weekend.  He has been a governor at Stoke Park Schools and also a cycling proficiency instructor.

James Joshua NOEL -EAST WARD - ELECTED

Pam and I moved to Fair Oak nearly 6 years ago.  We have our dog Cookie and our three young boys, the oldest of which will start at Fair Oak Infants in September and the youngest who have just arrived this April.  I am a proud family man who enjoys outdoor pursuits, namely sailing and cycling, commuting to work in IT in Chandlers Ford on my bike.  My employer runs a schools program to drive an interest in technology for the next generation of engineers.  This allows me time to act as a mentor to Wyvern School which I thoroughly enjoy.  I was priviledged  enough to be a public member of the Knowle Park Committee which has led to my interest in becoming a councillor for our Parish.  I think our Parish is wonderful and I hope to be able to contribute towards the development and onging maintenance of this.

Harriet PRICE - EAST WARD - NOT ELECTED

I have lived in Fair Oak for 31 years.  We came from Swindon, where we bought a house in a 'new urban village'.  I become one of the area representatives.  From this, I was recruited on to a working party for the 'Western Development', where we worked very hard to make sure there was infrastructure in place before people moved into houses.  I enjoyed this work.  I was a trained Home Economics teacher before I retired.  I was thrilled on moving to Fair Oak to find a WI, which I joined.  Afterwards, I joined the Fair Oak Art and Craft Society where I am still a member an aso belng to the Gardening Club.  I enjoy visting various Senior Groups and other organisations, giving illustrated talks on various subjects.  I'd like to rekindle my past experiences again.

Maria Gennevieve REYNOLDS - EAST WARD - ELECTED
